The following is a statement on the news of Truss' resignation from Councillor Chris Evans of the Swansea and Gower Green Party.
"Anything less than an immediate General Election will be another nail in the coffin of democracy in the UK. Our country simply can not keep appointing new leaders with smaller and smaller mandates, while manifesto commitments are trashed. The UK deserves better, Wales deserves better, and Swansea deserves better. Only the UK electorate should be choosing the next PM, not a small band of Tory MPs."
