Past Elections

Swansea have the longest Green Party history in Wales, first established in 1976. We have taken part in many elections, keeping the People and Planet on the political agenda.

In the 2015 General Election we retained our deposit in Swansea West for the first time, increasing our vote share by 4% in the Westminster Elections, we also contested Council By Elections held at the same time, and got similar results in Cockett and beat the Liberal Democrats in Townhill.

We kept a consistent level of support during the Welsh Assembly Elections in May 2016, where we stood on a platform of Fairness and Respect for all in society, resisting the race to the bottom a lone voice against the swing to the right, where labour supporters swung to the ultra right UKIP, who now elected are reverting to Conservative type.

In the 2017 City Council Elections, we stood 8 candidates, and we got as much as 18% in Penderry ward.  If you are disappointed you could not vote Green in the elections, you may like to stand yourself - don't delay, get in touch now.

In the 2017 General Election, after much deliberation, we stood in Swansea East and West, and at members request fully supported Tonia Antoniazzi on Gower. In a dramatic turnout, only LabourCoop and Tory kept their deposits. LabourCoop increased their vote share and secured all three seats to represent the people of Swansea in the Palace of Westminster.
