Swansea elects its first Green councillor

On 5th May 2022 Swansea went to the polls to choose its new local council representatives and a piece of history was made as a Green candidate won a seat on the council for the first time.

Chris Evans will now be representing Mayals ward with a convincing 40% of the vote after seeing off the Conservative incumbent and beating the Labour and Lib Dem candidates into third and fourth place. In his own words, after a long and arduous election campaign it is now time for the real work to begin. It’s time to prove to the people of Mayals that they made a good decision, and show the rest of Swansea the difference a Green voice in the room can make.
